I see a trend.....

When I began this "blog" some time ago, I had originally hoped to spend time recording some of my thoughts. (Not that they are worth that much ... but ...)  I'm seeing a trend in my posts though.... birthdays, anniversaries, parties(even tonight we spent time with our friends, Stephen & Susan Hill,  at a Brazilian Churrascaria for his 44th Birthday) and lots of pictures of my family and friends!   Wow...   April, May & June have been very event"full" months.

So if I could articulate the "Lori Lore"  or what I've learned through this trend I'm observing,  it would have to be ......  relationships are what matter!

Cultivate relationships with those you love and really LOVE them!  Because in the end.... “People Will Forget What You Said, People Will Forget What You Did, but People Will Never Forget How You Made Them Feel.”

Other quotes that bring clarity to this trend....

“You've spent your whole life running and running, trying to catch up with something that has never been there for you. And all you've done is go farther and farther away from the precious love that's been waiting for you all the time.”

"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others."

No road is long with good company.  ~Turkish Proverb

“Life gives us brief moments with another...but sometimes in those brief moment we get memories that last a life time...”

"Memories are the treasures that we keep locked deep within the storehouse of our souls, to keep our hearts warm when we are lonely.”

~ Treasure your relationships, not your possessions. ~

So when you notice a "trend", maybe it's time to stop, take note and learn the lesson!

****Note - The above photo is my Mamaw, her sister - Aunt Nema and their best friend.  They are still friends today!  A great picture of what relationship is about.****

Happy 63rd Anniversary Popie & Marmie!!!!

At their home in Sutter, CA....
Still going strong and enjoying each other....

What a nice looking couple!

With their two oldest daughters Linda & Bev...

Having fun dressing up...

With all three of their girls.... Bev, Linda & Debbie

Like I said on my previous post (both of these posts were "posted" on the same day....oops) my other set of grandparents, Lonnie & Lorene Journey, celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 27th!

I truly have been blessed with good, godly grandparents on both sides of the family.  They are all in their 80's now and look young and live independent lives.

Marmie & Popie are still wonderful host/hostesses for all those who visit their home.  Great cooking and conversation around the table.... maybe a game of Skip-bo or Phase 10....  staying up late and laughing.... talking out in the garage with Popie while he tinkers around on something...   these are some of the things you may experience while there.

I also spent many summers at their home in Redding, CA .... playing with all their office "stuff" and "pretend" driving all the vehicles sitting around outside (Popie drove a logging truck for many years and is a "certified-grease-monkey")....  and staying up all night with the girls and going garage selling/thrift shopping with Marmie (She worked for the school district for 25+ years as a baker so she had the summers off)...  WHAT FOND MEMORIES!

They are very special people.   Their faithfulness to each other and to the Lord have been an inspiration to me and my family.  I love them both dearly!  Happy Anniversary Popie & Marmie!   (I'm not sure if they will see this post.... they don't even own a computer or have internet but I wanted to honor them anyway and show what a wonderful heritage I have!)

Happy 65th Wedding Anniversary Papaw & Mamaw

Christmas time in Kodak, Tennessee

Papaw & Mamaw with their first child (My Dad!)
I love this picture  -- Papaw looks like one "cool dude" and Mamaw so "glamorous"

Their 25th Wedding Anniversary - I think this was in Burney...

They call this their Wedding Picture - it's one of my all time favorites!

I wanted to post a few pictures in honor of my grandparent's (Jack & Olliefaye Renison) 65th Wedding Anniversary on June 26th. They continue to truly be wonderful examples to their family and all those that know them. A beautiful couple ----  bar-none! I love them and appreciate all the precious memories we have made over the years.

I spent many summers at their home in Burney, CA .... mornings with Mamaw and "cinnamon toast - not cooked and not warmed".... and even-though Papaw pastored a church and worked a full time job welding at the mill, he would put up tents for me to play house in and helped with whatever other hair-brained idea I would come up with.... times on Shasta Lake out on the boat fishing (I usually had a book somewhere).... oh the fun times!

They grew up in the "depression" and although we've teased them over the years, they learned to be hard workers, dependable, frugal and steady. They pioneered the churches in Tracy, Ca., Burney, Ca. and also pastored in Ashland, Or.  They evangelized over the years and taught prophecy seminars all over the country.  Until just these past few years, they would make an annual trek from their home in Kodak, TN around the country with stops in Arkansas, Oklahoma, California, Oregon, Washington and sometimes Idaho to visit family and friends.  They always made a point to be at all important events in our lives as they possibly could.  They visited and preached at our church here many times over the years.  Life Tabernacle loves them and fondly refers to Papaw as Bro. Jack"Jesus" (referring to a message he preached some time ago....)

They have always portrayed a wonderful picture of loving support to each other and their family. I'm sure they've had their ups and downs in the last 65 years, but I've only see the LOVE that they have for each other.

Happy Anniversary Papaw & Mamaw....  I love you both!

I could go on and on .... but my other grandparents have an anniversary tomorrow (June 27).... and I need to post something for them as well.  I AM SOOOOO BLESSED TO STILL HAVE MY WONDERFUL GRANDPARENTS AROUND!!!!

Six Nephews....

My brother, Nathaniel and his wife were just here for my husband's party and brought their 6 handsome boys!!!  What a bunch!  Someone sent me this picture taken just a few weeks ago...  Their names are (oldest to youngest):  Jesse, Jonathon, Joshua, Jeremiah, Josiah & Jadon.

Happy 50th Birthday Dean!

My husband - Dean, celebrated his 50th birthday this last Tuesday (June 10th).  WOW!  Where have the years gone?  When I first remember "meeting" him, I was 12 years old and he was 21 :)...  I know, I know...  but 41 and 50 doesn't sound as bad does it!?!

I wanted to post some pictures of his surprise birthday party that the church and I threw for him on Saturday (and boy did we surprise him!) --  but I haven't got them downloaded yet!  So here are a few pictures of him through the years... although I don't have any recent ones!

I can't believe I am married to a 50 year old man!!!  :)

Dean as a baby....                                              School days....

Our Wedding - February 17, 1990.... can you believe he was 31? ...  he has always looked young!

Happy 50th Birthday Babe -- you sure make "50" look goooood!   I love you!

Happy Father's Day - DAD!

My Dad.....                                                                 High School Graduation - Stockton, CA

School Days....

I love this one!!!

I have the greatest Dad in the world....

Not only is he my "Daddy" ------ but he is my friend!  Long talks, whether on the phone or sitting around the kitchen table, have been our tradition.  He has taught me that the pursuit of God is the most important thing in life!  If you have God - You have Life!  He has taught me that QUESTIONS are GOOD -- that you MUST KNOW what you believe and WHY you believe it!  The Word of God always takes priority -- if fact, I just received a gift for "Father's Day" FROM my Dad -   The Emphasized Bible... with instructions to read and study it so that we could discuss the translation.  Dad is truly a brilliant mind and my all-time favorite preacher (along with my husband of course!).  I remember sermon titles such as;  "The Bar To Hell", "Beating Back the Buzzards", "A Place Called There" and many more!!  As we have grown older, my brothers and I have found that the drive within my Dad to know God and to seek His Wisdom, is evident in our lives.

Dad loves to read (now you know where I get it from:) and as we were growing up, he read-a-loud to us kids..... Louis L'Amour westerns, Dog Stories (like "Where the Red Fern Grows") and The Judge Series.  That is a tradition that I have carried on in my family and see that the benefits are more than just reading a story.... but it's time to connect with your children.... learn things together.... discuss ideas and thoughts.... It's even a time to "pick up on" needs and attitudes that may be lurking.  Thank you Dad for taking the time to connect with us kids! (... and still taking the time to connect with us..... we talked on the phone over an hour just today!)  You've always encouraged us in whatever area of our lives that you saw talent or gifting.  You've never compared us to each other - but have always loved us as individuals...  AND you are always FAIR :)!!!!

I know you say that you're not perfect - none of us are -- But remember .... we are on "THE NUMBER ONE TEAM"!  You're the BEST and YOU'RE MY DAD!  I love you!  HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
