First Impressions of Sarah Palin

Now I must say that Senator John McCain's choice as his Vice Presidential running mate made me feel a little better about MY "choice" this coming November!  Sarah Palin is definitely a lady after my own "political" heart... (if there is such a thing!!!)  I love that line in her acceptance speech when she refers to telling Congress that "if the Alaskans wanted a bridge, they would build it themselves!"  I've listened to her speak and did some background reading on her and her family.  Wow, Sarah is a strong and dynamic Lady (Yes, with a capital "L"!) ....and she can hunt too!  She has already inspired me in a way that few have before.  Margaret Thatcher was always on my list... and now I have a new name to add.

Here is a list of a few of Palin's accomplishments:
  • She has had a 80 to 90 percent approval rating
  • Governor for two years
  • She has passed a helpful reform bill for Alaska.  Alaska had a corrupt system until she stepped in.
  • Stopped the "bridge to nowhere" that would of cost over 400 million dollars to tax payers
  • In charge of the National Security of the largest pipeline transporting 25% of our nation's oil
  • In charge of one of 120 federally funded Counter Terrorism units in Alaska
  • In charge of Disaster 1 - a unit that went to aid The World Trade Center
  • Union membership and took out "mob" union boss
  • A small town girl from a working family
  • Stopped pork spending
  • Created a surplus and got rid of a deficit
  • Stood up against oil companies
If you haven't had a chance to hear her speech, I'm including a link below.  A big thumbs-up to Sarah Palin!!!!

Happy 15th Birthday Olivia!

Olivia Antoinette Domingues
   Born August 19, 1993

Oh ... you beautiful doll.....

I can't believe my "baby girl" is 15 years old.... Wow, how time swiftly passes...  I'm not sure why, but when I start to write about Olivia, all these lyrics from songs seem to start playing in my head....  "Oh, you beautiful doll"..... "You are so beautiful to me"..... "Brown-eyed girl"..... "Olivia, Olivia, O-O-O-O-O-O-Olivia, Olivia, Olivia, Mommy loves you soooooooo" (No, you probably haven't heard that one before!!!  That's the one that use to put her to sleep ---- as I rocked her on my shoulder.... sniff-sniff)....

She's lovable, funny and always ready to "go".... the energizer-bunny incarnate!!!!  She loves people (especially babies!!!!) and is always willing to lend a hand.  Olivia has always claimed to want to be a neonatal nurse (even when she could barely say the word).... I think she just likes babies  --- a great "mom-in-the-making"!  She seems to be a natural at cooking, cleaning (when she gets motivated) and everything digital/electronic...

Olivia, I want you to know that your Dad and I are so proud of you!  You're a very special young lady....  I admire your strength of character and your willingness to do what is "right".  You have great leadership abilities and will be able to influence many through the years - remember to take that responsibility seriously!  I appreciate your love and relationship with God --- let that relationship grow and flourish -- it's the most important one of all!!

Happy Birthday Baby-doll!!!!  "I love you forever, I love you for always, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be!!"

***My other blog (Kingdom Academy) has an additional slideshow of the "Vintage Vogue" clips of Olivia that you see mixed in the above slideshow.  Check it out.....

Senior Camp Blessings

This year's Senior Camp was a tremendous blessing.....  as you can see from the pictures.  It was Olivia's first year as an official "camper" and what a great year it was!  Every night the kids poured to the altar..... very few were left in the "pews".   I am so thankful for the touch of God that both of my children experienced!  May the memories and experiences be landmarks that they can return to and "remember" in the years to come.

God's Will

Just wanted to share an adorable picture of my youngest nephew, Jadon and a quote concerning finding the Will of God from a book that I was reading this evening...

"God's will for you is exactly what you would choose for yourself if you had sense enough to know."  Tommy Tyson

....... Jadon looks like he might have the sense enough to know!!!!  What do you think?!?  lol
